Committee

Nik Whitehead - Chair

Nik fell into the convention world in the 80s and ended up getting involved with the Ops teams before branching out into running rpg/wargaming conventions in Scotland. She's been threatening to run a military SF convention for a while now, an idea which gradually metamorphosed into an Eastercon with a miltary SF stream. Currently a computer science academic, when Nik grows up she wants to become either a space traffic controller or the navigator of the starship Enterprise.

Fran & John Dowd - Finance & Membership team

Fran has chaired a few Eastercons, and John has been Treasurer of several. They've also edited newsletters, contributed to programme, and designed fannish memorabilia from mugs to groats. They were proud to be asked to be Fan Guests of Honour for Eastercon 2010. John is Treasurer of the UK London Worldcon bid for 2014, and Fran is working hard at being a foodie blogger and Masterchef critic. They live in Sheffield where they're involved in the local fan group, and share their house with a boat and cat.

John Harold - Services

In 1987 I wandered into the Brighton Convention centre for the Worldcon and said "Anyone need a hand?" Life has been interesting in the Chinese sense ever since, I have seen many strange parts of the world and said "Don't do that" in several languages. Been compared to a Borg and wear a Draka shoulder patch. I can probably find a bed in most of the world with two phone calls, and live in fear of my profile on various funnies databases. One day I will organise and delegate to the point I can sleep through a convention. Yeah, right. But I have companions that Alexander would have been proud of. And am honoured to be working on this convention.

Hayley Fazzani - Hotel Liaison

Hayley showed up to Novacon in 2006 and by the end of it found herself on the committee for the 2007 Eastercon, Contemplation. Suitably hooked she ran publications for LX 2009 and is head of programme for the Discworld Convention. In the 'real' world, Hayley lives near Torchwood's Cardiff headquarters and co-ordinates virtual project teams for a digital agency. In the even less real world, she spends entire weekends at LARP events, running around fields and forests pretending to be someone else. Whichever world she's in, Hayley really likes amaretto and diet coke. Hint, hint.

Dave Mansfield - Programme / secretary

Dave Mansfield stumbled into fandom in 2006 and, to paraphrase a recent GoH, found his tribe. He can regularly be found around pubs in London enthusing on how fun conventions can be to slightly bewildered friends, colleagues, and strangers. He has helped out with programme for the last 2 Eastercons, and watched the level of effort involved. However he seems to have forgotten that and is keen to get stuck in with helping to set up an awesome convention.

Senior Staff

Becky Duty (Blazingskies) - Guest Liason

Becky Duty was enticed into the world of convention fandom in 1999, with promises of geeks and cookies (from the dark side, naturally). She got addicted to the experience and has been a staunch con-goer ever since. In 2009, she said "yes, what?" at the wrong moment and became guest liaison for Redemption and has since been doomed. In addition to this, she has both run and contributed to events at Eastercon and various other cons.

Mad Elf - Website & Publications

Mad Elf's first proper (i.e. non-RPG) convention was Albacon 88; he spent the entire time role-playing.

Since that time he has discovered the delights of being a Gopher, Green Room Bod, Tech, and Steward, and has finally settled on Operations as having the best combination of meeting people, access to comestibles, and comfortable chairs. (As well as the Feeling of Power, Bwahahaha.) He has also been on several con committees, from the tiny Isocon 4 to Albacons and up, and only one of the resulting conventions has been classified as Better Off Not Mentioned.

Mad Elf is, of course, not a real name, but it's far better known than the real one.

James Bacon, Dave Tompkins and Stef Lancaster - Dealers' Room Team

Dave first came across cons and fandom at Seacon79 when Andy Croft asked for a hand. Since then he's been involved in many areas of conrunning from operations, logistics, layouts and artshow. Sometimes he wishes he had said NO to Andy!

Stefan Lancaster is really a live action role player, who reads too little but likes comics and books a lot. Stef likes to dress up as a zombie.

James Bacon edits and writes fanzines, goes to and runs conventions and reads a lot of books and comics. He owned a bookshop once and is a Zombie.
