Outreach at Collectormania
UK SF Outreach had a stall at Collectormania over the bank holiday weekend. It was staffed by volunteers from several conventions including three members of the Illustrious committee. Collectormania is a big media event where thousands of people go to get autographs of big name (and also not so big name) stars. There are large numbers of dealers selling photographs, more autographs, tie in merchandise and other shiny items. There are lots of people in costume. We go as Outreach to give away books and chocolate, and to encourage people there to think about coming to our conventions. We think it successful as we talked for four days almost non stop and gave away several hundredweight of books. We would also like to thank the many people that make outreach possible especially the organisers of Collectormania and London Film and Comic con.
We will be doing the same thing at the London Film and Comic Con at Earls Court in July.

Membership Rate Rise
Membership rates go up at midnight tonight. Adult attending becomes £55, Unwaged and Young Adult become £30. The scripts which control the joining pages are programmed to change automatically so if you want to join at the lower rate please do it well before 12 midnight.
All other rates remain the same.

Convention Membership Update
Membership of the convention, less than two weeks after launch, stands at 398 humans and three apochryphal. Of the humans 370 are adult including Guests and young adults. Half of the members paid by credit/debit card and around 7% joined online. The hard work by volunteers of taking so many memberships in only two days of the convention is very much appreciated.
Credit card and website payments will show “UK SF convention” on their statements. If you joined London in 2014 this will also show as “UK SF convention”. We are sharing a treasurer and a payment processing account to save costs.
